Reverse Audit

What happens when the result is traced backward and attacked by simpler explanations?

Reverse audit starts with the claimed result and moves backward through method, inputs, comparators, receipts, and source declarations. Every link remains challengeable; presentation never substitutes for execution or proof.

Primary test relationship

Begin at the result. Challenge every path that could have produced it.

The audit does not ask only whether the target score is high. It asks whether ordinary baselines, confounds, threshold behavior, observer dependence, source drift, or missing receipts can explain or weaken the interpretation.

RESULT ← METHOD ← INPUTS · challenge every link and rival path

InputsWere source identity and admissibility intact?

Procedural readings

The test remains one system even when its functions differ.

Purpose, inputs, procedure, challenge, and record are distinct surfaces. Without JavaScript they remain fully readable; with JavaScript one active panel organizes the same semantic content.

Make misleading success difficult to preserve.

Practically, reverse audit asks what could make an apparent result misleading in the real system. It protects the public conclusion from a score that survives presentation but fails source, comparator, confound, threshold, or custody review.

Admit the same evidence window, rules, and diagnostic set.

Source identity, case admission, fixed outcome, baseline, comparator set, observation window, and route custody are inputs to the audit. A receipt can document custody; it cannot replace runtime execution, scientific confirmation, or evidence validation.

Replicate, ablate, compare, and attempt falsification.

  1. Verify evidence admissibility and the frozen baseline.
  2. Apply the same rules independently and record classifications without post-hoc weighting.
  3. Compare the target against stronger ordinary explanations and component ablations.
  4. Challenge threshold behavior, observer dependence, false positives, false negatives, and intervention contradictions.
  5. Preserve failure without rewriting it as success.

Recovered method status: observer-replication and decisive-falsification procedures are admitted methods. Their registrations and protocols are custody or method records, not completed validation studies.

The selected battery result did not survive every interpretation.

The defined battery event was evaluated within the next 20 cycles across 1,653 final-test cycle records from three held-out cells, and reverse challenge preserved the stronger conventional aging-burden comparator at AUROC 0.9704 against the combined model at AUROC 0.9394 before component ablations and threshold behavior were considered.

Stronger ordinary explanation

Burden reached AUROC 0.9704, exceeding the combined model and leaving conventional aging or accumulated use open.

Incremental challenge

Raw plus H* reached 0.7770 versus raw 0.7850; H* incremental delta was −0.0080.

Weakest-axis challenge

AUROC 0.6743 was above chance but remained preliminary.

Threshold challenge

The hard MQ conjunction produced zero true positives, zero sensitivity, and balanced accuracy 0.4994.

Audit consequence: the result remains promising inside the named battery domain, while mechanism, confound independence, external replication, and operational use remain open.

Preserve exactly what passed, failed, and remained unresolved.

The route owns four canonical custody records. Their complete payloads and source metadata remain available in the collapsed audit layer below. The complete selected study remains owned by Frontier.
